The 20-20-20 Rule
You work in front of a computer for a long time, you like video games or you watch TV series?
Most of us spend a good part of our time in front of a screen. We sometimes experience fatigue, dry eyes and headaches when we spend too much time in front of it. But what can we do about it?
Follow the 20-20-20 rule, take 20 seconds of rest, 20 feet (or 6 meters) away from the screen every 20 minutes. This will rest your eyes as well as your neurons, and minimize the effects of visual fatigue.
At Altimex Consulting and Services we want to help you in your technical projects but using good practices to stay healthy using technology!
Why Does This Work?
The 20 seconds are recommended because this is how long it takes for your eyes to completely relax.
Both the American Optometric Association and the American Academy of Ophthalmology have recommended the 20/20/20 rule as an effective way to reduce eye strain.
It is also important to note that the myth that staring at screens or watching too much TV will ruin your eyes is FALSE. However, you might still experience some uncomfortable symptoms of eye strain and the 20/20/20 rule is there to relieve those.
